How much can I get for a low hours 2002 Mercury 125 outboard with possible seized cylinder?

-The engine is clean and very powerful but might have sucked in a piece of garbage and overheated it. Assuming the engine needs a new powerhead worst case, what do you think it's worth to someone who wants to rebuild it? You will have a new engine once you do. Again, the engine is 2002 and super super clean.

Used value of your outboard, IN GOOD WORKING ORDER - $2200 to 2500.

Remanufactured powerhead - $2000 to 2200.

Cost of parts to rebuild, including machining - $1000 - 1200. (no labour).



If you part the engine out: (approx value of used parts):



Gearcase - $600 - 750.

Trim system - $400 - 500.

Ignition components (CDM modules, stator, trigger, flywheel) $250 - 500.

Driveshaft housing including clamp bracket - $750

Starter components - $200

Fuel and oil injection components - $250 -500.



Please draw your own conclusions from this info.

its apperently not running, has serious problems, and far all the shopper knows, is far, far worse then you say it is (always a safe assumption to make).



if you fix it 1st, you should be able to recover parts plus a little profit.

but right now, you'd be best off selling it for parts. lots of people manage to bust their lower unit......
Not a whole lot. Even if it's in perfect shape other than that, it would cost a couple thousand dollars to repair it. You might be better off parting it out than selling it as is seized up.
