What type of waterproofing should I put on my boat oars?

-I just sanded down the oars for my boat....Should I just coat them with Polyurethane?



Not sure what was on them to begin with...but it was a clear glossy finish.



ThanksUse a marine quality varnish. Polyurethane is a type of varnish. Just explain at the paint store what you're trying to do and they can recommend the right product.
There is an epoxy base paint and is great on any kind of surfaces including wood and this would be great for your oars because this thing came clear or any color you choose and you can find at Home Depot or Lowe's as well
Just a couple of coats of a good SPAR VARNISH would work quite nicely.
