BIG SUV.... FOR BIG BOAT?

-hey what 03-05 suv can tow more than 600lbs and also 5 pass ?Most full-size SUV's can handle up to 7500 lbs for towing, However, that's with only the driver in the SUV. Look at the "Max Capacity" plate in the driver side door "B" pillar. If you exceed the capacity, then you'll end up like the other poster here. There's really only one SUV that qualifies and that's the Ford Excursion with the 7.3L diesel. Good luck finding one. All of the other SUV's have light duty transmissions and programming. Personally, I'd look at a diesel 3/4 ton pickup with the Crew Cab. Those can hold up to 6 people in comfort. I've towed my 26' Express Cruiser from the West Coast to the East Coast and back several times without any problems and got 17 mpg. You won't get any kind of good mpg with a gas engine SUV. If you're lucky, you'll see an average of 7-8 mpg. Diesels like to work, and there's more chemical energy in a drop of diesel, than in a drop of gasoline.Honestly, suv's are for hauling light stuff like dirt bikes. 6000 is a Big boat and trailer.

There are plenty of good older diesels in the rv trader. low miles. Or you can give the suv a slow or fast dealth. Tow rating are some-what of a joke. They rerive at these numbers in a prefect world - perfectly flat roads. Hope this helps.
Towing 6K Lbs man you really should consider something with a diesel. We used to tow our big ocean boat with a Denali and destroyed the transmission. We replaced that with an F350 diesel and not a problem since. Also, it holds 6.
I use a 2500 Suburban to pull my 24' Sea Ray. No problem... It's rated at ~10000
