I have a four stroke outboard motor should i use a fuel addative?

-it's a 2002 johnson 9.9if you are using reformulate gas (10% alcohol, E10) then you may want to use an additive to keep the fuel fresh and keep the alcohol from separating, absorbing water from the air, and other problems caused because the alcohol is a strong cleaner that can release varnish and other deposits in your gas tank. (whch will plug your fuel filters and fuel system.

we use startron in all of our fuel tanks and have great results. to learn more you can go to their web site.

we purchase our startron in the boating section at walmart.

hope this helps
The pure gasoline is a good idea if you can find it in your area, there's another sight that does this too, http://pure-gas.org/. and they push the no additives what so ever, just cant remember the name of it right now. but I do know where the station is in my area. anyway its the additives when left unused in your tank or float bowl that tend to gum up the works after a few months, basically when the real gasoline evaporates it leaves that crap behind and you with expensive repairs, stabilizers work but your just adding more crap to your gas, one thing you can try is asking the local Fire Department where they buy the gas for there portable gas power equipment, most are aware of the problem and only use a pure gas.
Four stroke means it uses straight gasoline. Two stroke (aka two cycle) require oil added to the fuel. Pure gasoline is best, try to avoid e85 and such. They should know at the counter of the gas station if they have pure gasoline or not.
