-I just bought a new boat. I drew up a logo with teh name of the boat on it and want to put it on my boat. How would I do this...its nothing crazy, just a cool wavey design with the lettering. Does it have to be painted on? Are there companies that I can send the design and theyll make a decal for me?Sign shops are using machine cut vinyl for the majority of their sign lettering/designs. Locate a local shop, they can scan your design and create an exact duplicate in pretty decent, fade resistant vinyl.
Apply the vinyl "wet" on the boat. Clean the f'glass really well, mix up a solution of a little bit of soap and water in a spray bottle. Spray this onto the boat, peel the backing from your vinyl and with 2 people, (holding the graphic from each end) apply the graphic onto the boat. The soapy water will allow you to "slide it around" and remove the air bubbles from underneath. When you get it where you want it, grab one of the wife's plastic spatulas and with light pressure, squeegee the whole thing to remove as much water from underneath as possible. Let it sit for a couple of days...
If you're having difficulties in putting your logo on your boat, better to ask a good artist to put your logo on your boat.
You can hire a designer or you can also search online. There are also some companies available which can do designing for you.
Most sign makers can take your design and put it on self stick vinyl. Look for one in your area.
