What are some techniques to making a (good) milk carton boat?

-I have to make a boat out of a carton that is powered by wind for a contest. what are some good techniques? like how should i cut it? should it be weighted? how should i do the sails? basically, what's the best way to make it go the fastest and win? thanks! any information is appreciated. i have never done this before!
